I've been doing some research

Sorry to have gone silent with so much going on but I've been cooped up doing some research while that Beast prowls around my house whispering and growling all night long. It's cunning, so far I haven't caught more than a quick glimpse on my cameras and It only seems active at night so as not to draw attention from neighbors or passers by. My research paid off though and I'm 90% certain this isn't the Rake Itself. I stumbled back across a blog I'd commented on a time or two but never followed. The blogger had been bitten by the Rake and then had the wound treated either by the Plague Doctor Itself or an Oathbreaker with a sick sense of humor. After that he began going through changes both physical and mental becoming something like the Rake Itself. This was the bloggers final post that I had not seen until now.

I don't know how similar this Xeal Stevens has become to the Rake. It could be that if I stab him with my knife he will just regenerate like the Rake did when It was shot in the face by Hunter. When it comes time for the confrontation I'll have to be prepared to counter that somehow. I can't believe that it will have the Rakes full power though so hopefully even if it heals fast I can still kill it. One further update on this subject: Even if those rumors I've heard in the past of the herb Rue repelling the Rake are true it doesn't seem to work on this. This leads me to believe those rumors to be false.

On the other subject that has been causing me trouble someone came by yesterday to "check my cable box" since, according to them, there had been reports of problems with cable service in the area. The thing is, I didn't see a cable truck on my block. After they left I inspected the area and found a camera that's not part of my security network. I waved into the camera and then ripped it off the wall.

Until next time, Stay Alert, Stay Alive.

  1. Oh it's him? Aww that's depressing I liked that guy. Be careful now Proxie. Don't want you dying now. I rely far too much on you for amusement.

Also it became an interesting realization that the same thing you say about our blogs applies to yours as well. The more runners who follow your advice the more we can be prepared for what they might be carrying and tactics they may use.

  2. Well, good luck I guess.

At the very least, I guess you'll put that guy out of his misery.

  3. The Rake has been proposed as a Fear. It has been accepted by many as a Fear. If The Tall King is a Fear and is immortal, what makes you think you can kill The Rake. Unless...you think it is not a Fear. Interesting...

    1. As I said, this does not appear to be the Rake itself, merely a human who suffered some odd effects after being bitten by the Rake and then having the bite treated by the Plague Doctor or a servant thereof. Against the true Rake I would probably have less luck than Hunter did. Against this though I may have a chance however slight.

  4. Out of curiosity, what did you do with the camera once you ripped it out of the wall?

    1. It's sitting in my trash can. Even if it somehow still works it's only viewing the insides of a garbage can now. I can see my trash cans on my own security network and occasionally review the video. No one has taken it back out.

It's odd though. It wasn't MY house the camera was pointed at.

    2. That IS odd. Two questions:

      1. Whose house was it pointed at?

      2. What if it somehow had audio too?

    3. It was pointed across the street. If it had audio I doubt it heard much other than random passers by and the Beast prowling around my house growling and whispering at night. And as of this morning it's capable only of filming the town dump.

  5. Even though the fears aren't my territory,I read somewhere if their blood is drank the drinker or infused, as I suspect in this case becomes part fear, so this may be what your dealing with in the case mr steven, as an artificial fear he can die.

    1. That cannot be true, for a Fear does not have blood.

However he might be, like you said, an artificial Fear, therefore, impure.

  6. I always wondered what that last post meant..

  7. Actually, Fears have blood. Or at least Two do. The Rake and Slenderman both bleed. I am uncertain whether or not it is blood, but they both "bleed" a highly infectious fluid when cut by Metal carved from a Manufactured Infant or a Towerborn. This sake fluid is found in lakes deel in the Path, and plays a crucial role in the Hollowing Process.
